We are a children's home and short breaks service for children with disabilities and behaviours that challenge and we are located in Newport, Isle of Wight. As a support worker you will have the opportunity to have a positive impact and improve the quality of life of our young people. Our young people develop independence through life skills and have fun taking part in activities accessing Legoland, Tapnell Farm, IOW Zoo, Blackgang Chine, Amazon World, Marwell Zoo and much more.

This role is suitable for anyone who has a passion for supporting young people with developing independence and enriching their lives through activities and experiences. Our staff team come from all different backgrounds and levels of experience. Some have lots of experience in the care or social sector and some come with no experience. We offer a wide range of training opportunities to support our staff team with their own personal development. We take pride in supporting new staff members in gaining the necessary qualifications and skills for you to be able to succeed in your role. Working within the council will also give you the opportunity to progress further into a career in Social Care. Many of our team have progressed into Deputy Manager, Senior Support Worker and Social Worker roles.

Key Points of the Support Worker Role:

· Supporting our young people with their daily routine, accessing activities, personal care, supporting with medical needs, developing new skills and most importantly ‘having fun’.

· Being a young person’s key worker, completing and updating care plans and attending meetings and reviews.

· Completing daily recordings about the young person.

· Supporting our young people through behaviours that challenge.

· Using your passion and being proactive in sharing your ideas to improve the quality of life of our young people.

· Providing a ‘home away from home’ for all our young people, following our mission’s statement which is ‘We nurture, care for and safeguard our children while supporting individuality and encouraging adventure’.

· Completing ‘Stand By’ shifts.
