Kitchen & Bedroom Designer / Project Manager

Looking for a new challenge, with job satisfaction, and a leading remuneration package with scope for growth?  Then have you considered a job as a Kitchen & Bedroom Designer?

The Company…

The Kitchen Workshop is a local independent kitchen specialist that has been established on the Island for over 20 years.  We have an extensive showroom, along with a separate warehouse where we manufacturer our own cabinetry.  Our installation team is employed, and we offer customers a full fitting and project management service.

The company has continually grown over the last 10 years, and recently undertook an expansion of our workshop and a complete refurbishment of our showroom, giving customers an even greater choice of products.

The Role (in brief)

A new kitchen is a big decision and for some will be a once in a lifetime purchase.  We want customers to take their time and get it right.  We are not looking for pushy sales advisors who are only interested in making a quick sale.  We want designers who will get to know the customer, listen to their needs, and wants, and use their knowledge and skill to offer guidance to ensure customers can make an informed decision.  You don’t need to have experience as full training and guidance will be given.  But someone with an eye for details, a flare for design and the willingness and drive to learn is key.

All customers have their own dedicated Designer/project manager, so our designers are required to work with the various trades and coordinate the installation to ensure a smooth and efficient fitting service.  You will be required to coordinate and deal with multiple projects at a time and therefore you must be able to manage your workload to ensure that all customers, regardless of the type or size of job, is given the same first-class service.

Sales are a fundamental part of this role and the company’s success depends on it, but your focus will be delivering a first-class customer service and instilling confidence and showing them that you are knowledgeable, passionate and are therefore the right person/company for their new kitchen or bedroom purchase.

Key Responsibilities

Look after Customers from their first visit, right through to completion.

Carrying our site surveys for kitchens and bedrooms.

Create designs based on your own knowledge and skills, along with the customers’ needs and wants.

Presenting designs and making necessary amendments.

Liaising with trades regarding site surveys and schedules.

Manage own appointments and workload to ensure customers are given a first-class service.

Coordinate the installation process with all key people; customer, fitter, and trades.

Deal with after sale queries.

Personal Characteristics, Qualifications & Experience:

Proven track record in a similar role, or experience in a sales-based environment.

Strong customer service skills, with an ability to build up a strong rapport.

Organisation skills – and able to deal with multiple projects at the same time.

A strong attention to detail, and able to solve problems or foresee issues that may arise.

Able to work well under pressure.

Passionate and confident.

Experience of computers and CAD software, along with Outlook, Excel, and Word (advantageous)

Dedicated to learning and development of new skills.

Driven to succeed and grow within an organisation.

Able to work as part of a team or on their own.

In all aspects of the role training will be given – however you must have the dedication and willingness to learn, accompanied by the ability to retain information.  You will be expected to spend time outside of work researching and exploring information which may help you within your role and extend your knowledge of the products that we sell.

Working Hours
You will be required to work 40-45 hours per week (extra hours when needed to ensure customers are looked after and key tasks are carried out on time).  Normal hours of work (for 40 hours) will be 7:45am until 5:30pm, and 8:30am – 2:30pm Saturday.  Your day off would be Sunday and one day during the week (day tbc).

You are entitled to 5.6 weeks holiday per year.  The company closes for approx. 2 weeks at Christmas, and this will form part of your entitlement, along with bank holidays.  Other holidays to be booked and taken as agreed.

Fuel Allowance
You will need your own form of appropriate transport to visit customers.  The company will provide a fuel card to cover fuel.

Salary & Benefits
£25,000 – £40,000 (Depending on experience and achieved sales).
You will also be entitled to join the company Pension scheme.

Your salary will be made up of a basic salary and commission on sales.
