Here at The Isle of Wight College we work with a number of employers, in a vast array of industries. A fantastic opportunity has arisen to work as a Business Administration Support Apprentice at Metrix Advanced Technologies Ltd. (‘Metrix’), Shanklin.

Metrix manufactures and sells electronic remote monitoring devices to both the marine and leisure market, and industrial and plant equipment.

Through state-of-the-art technology, the range of Metrix remote monitors and accessories provides up-to-date connectivity with any piece of equipment, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Customers across the UK and Europe enjoy the ability to check on their equipment from anywhere, and receive immediate warnings and notifications if there is an issue.

In support of business growth, Metrix are now looking for a responsive candidate to join their friendly team in this important wide-ranging support role

Tasks and responsibilities will include:

  • Providing office support including customer and employee support
  • Keeping well-organised files and records of business activity
  • Researching company data and archived reports
  • Keeping computer databases up to date
  • Interacting with clients either on the phone or in person
  • Answering phones and handling as required
  • Following up as directed on business communications, billing, and ordering
  • Collecting and inputting company and competitive data into databases
  • Administration support for Trade Shows
  • Office organisational support
  • Assisting with minor technical support through our portal
  • Scheduling appointments and events
  • Administering office stationery and other supplies
  • Being ready for any other administrative tasks that are required
  • Creating postal labels and slips for product dispatch team

  • Previous administration experience
  • Social media experience, business or personal
  • Customer facing experience

Qualifications Required:

GCSE grade C/4 or above in English & Maths (or equivalent qualification and/or ability to work towards these Functional Skills if not previously achieved)

Apprenticeship Standard:

Level 3 Business Administrator Apprenticeship Standard

Functional Skills in Maths and English if required and if not previously achieved GCSE grade 4 or above

There is a requirement to complete off the job training, time spent either learning something new, other courses, new skills training or any support work that is not in your usual role will also be counted

Working Week:

40 hours per week

Wage:

Starting at £5.00 per hour with quarterly reviews

The current National Minimum Wage (NMW) rate for apprentices is £4.81 per hour. This applies to 16-18-year-old apprentices and those aged over 19 in the first year of their Apprenticeship. For all other apprentices the National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies. The Minimum Wage for Apprentices applies to time spent on the job plus time spent training. Once qualified and dependent on company needs at the time, there may be a permanent position available for the successful candidate.
