Thalia Waste Management, a leader in innovative waste-to-energy solutions, is seeking a dedicated Household Waste Recycling Centre (HWRC) and Waste Transfer Station (WTS) Supervisor to join our dynamic team. This pivotal role supports our HWRC Operations Manager in the day-to-day operations of our HWRC and WTS ensuring efficiency, safety, and environmental compliance.
- Location: Isle of Wight HWRC Site at Lynnbottom, PO30 2PD and HWRC site at Afton Marsh (Freshwater) PO40 9TT
- Working hours: 4 days on, 4 days off
- Salary: £33,000
Key Responsibilities:
- Uphold the highest standards of Health & Safety, promptly addressing and reporting any concerns to maintain our commitment to a zero-incident workplace.
- Monitor and ensure the achievement of KPIs in line with our strategic business objectives, contributing to the overall success and efficiency of the plant.
- Manage the day-to-day operations of the HWRC and WTS sites
- The supervision of site operatives
- The day-to-day security of the site
- The safe and secure operation of the weighbridge
- To ensure the site drop-off/loading areas are maintained in a safe and efficient manner.
- To operate all loading/unloading plant and machinery as required.
- To supervise the loading/unloading of materials. To drive on-site vehicles as required.
- Use the performance review system to set annual objectives for direct reports. Review progress on objectives periodically. Perform annual review.
- Act as first line manager and people manager for site operatives. Organise work schedules to ensure appropriate staff numbers are available. Check and sign off time sheets.
Person:
- Certificate of Technical Competence (CoTC) – WAMITAB scheme or equivalent (desirable)
- IOSH Managing Safely or equivalent (desirable)
Skills:
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and capable of adapting to various computer-based systems.
- Knowledge of mobile plant and machinery operation and maintenance desirable.
Experience:
- Experience in the waste industry, particularly in operating mobile and Mechanical Treatment Plants, is highly desirable.
- Essential experience in people management or supervision, demonstrating strong leadership and team-building abilities.
