Catering Assistant - Barista
Immediate Start, Permanent
We currently have an opportunity for a Barista-trained Catering Assistant to join our busy team. This role will suit a self-motivated individual who can work with minimum supervision. The successful applicant will have good interpersonal and communication skills, and will be open to new learning and ideas whilst being committed to providing outstanding customer service.
As part of our team of Catering Assistants you will gain exposure to all of our dining areas but will be predominantly based in our onsite cafe, The Pavillion. As such, this role requires someone who is used to working both alone and within a team when the situation demands it, covering all areas front and back of house and being a flexible team player willing to support colleagues or cover absence when needed. The ideal candidate will have proven experience as a Catering Assistant in a similar catering background but this is not essential. It is important that the successful candidate comes in with a hands-on 'can do' approach.
The successful candidate will work 38.75 hours a week over five days, mainly Monday to Friday. Due to the nature of our business, the catering needs can vary but are usually 37 weeks per year mostly during school term time. The café shift runs ideally from 7.00 am – 15.00 pm therefore we desire candidates to be available between these hours.
The rate of pay is negotiable and will be based on experience.
Responsibilities:
- Providing excellence customer service and maintaining the reputation of the business
- The preparation and service of food and beverages
- Operational till duties (card payments)
- Keeping high standard of cleanliness both front and back of the house (light and deep clean)
- Washing up of utensils and equipment, sterilising where required, following set guidelines, or use of the dishwasher where appropriate
- Helping with deliveries and storage of stock, stock control and stock taking
- Ensuring kitchen hygiene and food safety standards are maintained to the highest level and legislative HACCP requirements
- An understanding of the Allergen legislation and Natasha’s Law
- Adhering to Environmental Health and statutory Fire and H&S Regulations as well as COSHH training
- Assisting in all other duties as and when required (including assisting in our school dining room, preparing and delivering of Hospitality, covering events and summer lets outside of term time)
The ideal candidate will:
- Need to have good communication skills
- Need to been flexible and have a positive attitude towards work
- Have experience working in a similar catering environment
- Need the flexibility to cover different working days, if required
- Have excellent customer service skills
- Need to cover additional catering needs on a rota basis, some out of term time.
