The Front of House (FOH) team at Brading Roman Villa is a vital component and the first point of contact for all visitors to the site and museum. All three areas, comprising of the museum reception, shop and coffee shop are where a “first impression” is created and therefore this must always be demonstrated with a high standard of customer service.
The role of the Coffee Shop Assistant is to ensure that this service and the visitor experience is maintained and you will be expected to deliver a memorable level of customer service proactively engaging with all visitors ensuring that they feel welcome and valued and have an enjoyable experience in the coffee shop.
Working hours will start at 9.30 am and finish at approximately 4.30 pm. You will work a minimum of 2 days per week. However, during peak visitor times (e.g school holidays) this may increase. Your working days will be agreed with you, but you will be expected to work weekends, some evenings and public holidays and to help cover sickness and holidays.

Responsibilities:
Coffee Shop
· Providing excellent customer service and greeting visitors in a friendly, welcoming and confident manner
· Producing high quality hot drinks such as coffees, teas and hot chocolates, serving other drinks, food products and freshly prepared food (dependent on training).
· Assisting in food preparation (where training has been provided and food handling certificates are valid)
· Assisting in preparation of coffee shop, kitchen and counters before, during and at the end of service, including clearing and cleaning tables, washing up and stacking/emptying the dishwasher, putting away clean crockery, cutlery and equipment etc.
· Cleaning and shutting down the coffee machine on a daily basis as instructed, displaying (in the morning) or closing down the food placed out on the counter tops and any other café duties that the cooks or manager may ask.
· Processing coffee shop sales ensuring accurate use of the EPOS system and card machines.
· Understanding the need for excellent hygiene and food handling/storing procedures and assisting with these.
· Working with the kitchen team to develop a good knowledge of the products on offer to guide customers and to issue allergen advice as necessary.
· Ensuring that alcohol is sold according to the Licensing Act 2003 and upholding the Think 25 policy.
Other Responsibilities
· To participate in training when required (food hygiene, first aid etc)
· When instructed by the FoH Manager, cashing up the museum and/or coffee shop tills and reconciling the day’s takings.
· When instructed by the FOH Manager, carrying out reception duties to cover staff absence, holidays and/or sickness.
· Reporting maintenance issues to the FoH Manager.
· Ensuring that any risk assessments are complied with.
· Maintaining such records as are required by the FoH Manager.
· Working within established guidelines and operating procedures.
· Taking responsibility for security (product and cash), taking payments accurately and being vigilant for shoplifters and fraudulent credit cards etc.
· Keeping up to date with special promotions and creating displays.
· Managing customers if they report issues in the first instance and reporting to the FoH Manager.
· Wearing appropriate clothing and BRV shirts to satisfy statutory requirements as well as enhancing the image of Brading Roman Villa.
· Attending monthly staff meetings, bringing forward ideas and suggestions on enhancing the services we offer.

Experience:
· Experience of working in a customer facing role in hospitality and assisting visitors with their queries etc.
· Experience of operating a till, card machine, cashing up and reconciling the day’s takings.
· Experience of taking customers’ food and drinks orders and serving these.
· Experience of using a Barista style coffee machine (Desirable)
Qualifications / Training:
· GCSE or equivalent in Maths and English.
· Current Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate (Desirable)
· Current Level 2 Food Allergy Awareness (Desirable)
