Contract Type: 30 hours per week (flexible; operational shifts with seasonal variation)
Salary: £16.67 - £17.95 per hour (FTE £34k to £37k approx)

Royal Ocean Racing Club (RORC) is a private members’ club and a leading authority in international and domestic offshore yacht racing, with Clubhouses in central London and Cowes.

The Cowes Clubhouse is a historic and recently refurbished property overlooking the Solent, offering accommodation, year-round dining, and a busy programme of member and third-party events.

Job Purpose & Scope

The Front of House Manager is responsible for the effective management of front of house operations and event delivery at the Cowes Clubhouse.

The role combines hands-on leadership of daily food and beverage service with planning, coordinating, and delivering Club and private events. The postholder ensures high service standards, effective team supervision, sound financial oversight, and full compliance with licensing and hospitality regulations.

During peak season (May–September), the role is heavily operational, including regular evening and weekend event shifts. Outside of peak season, greater focus is placed on planning, staff development, and process improvement.

Person Specification

  • Strong experience in hospitality management, ideally within private members’ clubs, hotels, or event-led venues.
  • Proven experience managing front of house teams.
  • Confident balancing operational service with event coordination and administrative duties.
  • Good financial awareness, including labour and stock control.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Knowledge of dining etiquette and service standards from casual to fine dining.
  • Flexible and resilient, able to adapt to seasonal business demands.
