Set in one of the Isle of Wight’s most enchanting and historic locations, Shanklin Chine is a natural gorge filled with lush vegetation, waterfalls, and scenic pathways. A popular destination for visitors, the site offers a peaceful escape into nature, and right at its heart sits our charming tearoom.
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Tearoom Manager to lead our front-of-house team and ensure an exceptional experience for every guest who walks through our doors.
What You’ll Do
As Tearoom Manager, you will:
- Oversee the day-to-day running of the tearoom, ensuring high standards of service and cleanliness
- Lead, train, and motivate a small team of tearoom assistants and seasonal staff
- Welcome and engage with customers to create a warm, inviting atmosphere
- Manage stock levels, supplier orders, and deliveries to ensure smooth operations
- Prepare and serve teas, coffees, cakes, and light refreshments when required
- Handle cashing up, banking, and financial reporting in coordination with senior management
- Ensure compliance with health & safety and food hygiene standards at all times
- Work collaboratively with the wider Shanklin Chine team to enhance the visitor experience
What We’re Looking For
- Previous experience in a supervisory or managerial role within a café, tearoom, or similar hospitality setting
- Leadership and organisational skills
- A warm, professional approach with a passion for excellent customer service
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced, seasonal environment
- Basic food hygiene training (Level 2 minimum) additional qualifications desirable
- Confidence in using POS systems and managing daily cash operations
- A hands-on attitude and willingness to support the team in all areas as needed
