Business Development Executive

At Thalia Waste Management, we don’t see waste as rubbish, we see it as a resource. From our cutting-edge Energy-from-Waste facility on the Isle of Wight, we power up to 5,000 local homes and help businesses manage waste sustainably through our Mechanical Treatment Plant.

We’re now looking for a proactive Business Development Executive on 12 month fixed term maternity cover. In this role you will support Island businesses with local, environmentally friendly waste solutions.

The Role

• Hitting the road daily to connect with new commercial customers across the Isle of Wight
• Visiting businesses, identifying waste needs, and offering tailored solutions
• Managing the full sales cycle — from first contact to signed contract
• Balancing time between fieldwork and admin, including quotes, CRM updates, and follow-up
• Working closely with our operations team to ensure seamless service delivery
• Monitoring competitor activity and helping position Thalia as the go-to provider on the Island

The Person

• A self-starter who thrives in a field-based sales role
• Confident communicator who’s happy to cold call, follow up leads, and build relationships
• Someone who’s organised, diligent, and comfortable with quoting, contract admin, and CRM systems
• A team player who wants to make a positive local impact through sustainable services
• Previous experience in B2B sales or waste/recycling services is a bonus (desirable)

We operate the best technology available across our four strategic sites in North Yorkshire, Milton Keynes, Cambridgeshire and the Isle of Wight. Our technology includes everything from mechanical and biological treatment, traditional mass-burn energy from waste and material recycling technologies to in-vessel composting, advanced thermal treatment, innovative small-scale energy from waste and anaerobic digestion.  In a single year we process 300,000 tonnes of waste that is turned into energy. This generates the same amount of energy as approximately 600 million solar panels. Similarly we recycle circa 95,000 tonnes of waste.
