The Position

In this most coveted role, the successful candidate shall:

• Offer expert counsel on employee relations, policies, contracts and the finer points of College life.
• Steer managers through even the most vexing workplace dilemmas with grace and informed judgement.
• Champion inclusion, belonging and wellbeing—ensuring every member of staff feels valued.
• Support College-wide initiatives, from staff development to culture-building projects, workload, policy design and more.
• Work in close confidence with the Head of Human Resources, demonstrating discretion, resilience, intellect and charm befitting a trusted advisor.

The Qualities Sought

It is whispered among the Island that only those with the following attributes will catch the College’s discerning eye:

• A CIPD Level 5 qualification or the ambition to achieve it within 2 years of joining the College with support from the College
• A keen understanding of employment law, safeguarding practices and the unique rhythms of the FE sector.
• This role would suit a generalist HR practitioner who is ready to take the next step in their HR career 
• The ability to manage sensitive matters with a calm hand and a warm heart are essential.
• Skill in resolving conflicts before they become the subject of society gossip.
• A talent for building relationships across all ranks—academics, managers, unions and staff alike.
• A steadfast commitment to the College values (known most elegantly as CARES).
