As an Insurance Administrator Apprentice, you'll gain hands-on experience in all aspects of the insurance business – from customer service and policy administration to renewals and insurer negotiations, with a real focus on Marine insurance.

Daily Tasks and Responsibilities to include:

·         Supporting the daily operations of a busy insurance brokerage.

  • Communicating with customers and handling queries professionally.
  • Assisting with policy renewals and administrative tasks.
  • Learning to negotiate with insurers and build lasting client relationships.
  • Developing in-depth knowledge of marine insurance.

Our goal is for you to become our Marine Insurance Expert, taking full responsibility for managing all aspects of our marine insurance portfolio.

 

Essential qualities and Skills:

  • A confident communicator with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Proactive, enthusiastic, and committed to continuous learning.
  • Able to work both independently and as part of a supportive team.
  • Detail-oriented, reliable, and tech-savvy.
  • Holding appropriate grades in English and Maths at a grade 4/C or higher.

No previous experience in insurance? No problem. What matters most is your attitude, your curiosity, and your commitment to growing with us.

Apprenticeship Standard:

  • Business Administrator Level 3 Apprenticeship Standard.
  • There is a requirement to complete off the job training for 6 hours per week where you will be learning new skills, time spent either learning something new, other courses or any support work that is not in your usual role will also be counted.
  • Attendance at The Isle of Wight College for classroom lessons when required.

 

Working Week:

·        35 hours per week.

      Monday to Friday.

      9am to 4.45pm.

Wage:

·         £8.00 per hour.

Additional information:

The current National Minimum Wage (NMW) rate for apprentices is £7.55 per hour. This applies to 16-18-year-old apprentices and those aged over 19 in the first year of their Apprenticeship. For all other apprentices the National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies. The Minimum Wage for Apprentices applies to time spent on the job plus time spent training. Once qualified and dependant on needs of the business at the time of apprenticeship completion, the business’s goal is for you to become their Marine Insurance Expert, taking full responsibility for managing all aspects of their marine insurance portfolio.
