The Isle of Wight Donkey Sanctuary is seeking a Land & Facilities Team Member to join our dedicated team and support us in achieving our goals.  You’ll be handling day to day maintenance tasks within the department and supporting larger projects.

You’ll be part of a positive, dynamic team who work in a beautiful environment, surrounded by nature and the gentle companionship of our donkeys. If you have a variety of skills suited towards general maintenance and an understanding of the upkeep of meadows, paddocks, hedgerows etc then we want to hear from you!

Key Responsibilities:

Maintenance: To be responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of the sanctuary and its services, farm facilities and public areas, using skills and knowledge appropriate to your area of work or expertise.

Land: To ensure the grounds, including hedgerows, paddocks, pathways and paved areas are well tended, maintained and presented to the highest standards.

Visitor attraction presentation: To undertake checks to ensure all public and farm areas are functional and well maintained.

Health & safety: Maintaining equipment and tools and reporting damaged equipment as necessary. Complete all tasks working safely considering yourself and others.

About you:

  • You can demonstrate practical experience within a trade, or general maintenance
  • A practical knowledge of safe working practices and a history of working safely
  • Excellent communication skills, there will be guest interaction and team working
  • Good organisation skills with experience of working on a variety of projects, often unsupervised. The ability to prioritise workloads and always work within the best interest of the sanctuary is essential.
  • Degree of flexibility required towards your working hours as there will be weekend working on a rota basis.
  • A real ‘can do’ attitude, no job ever a problem or too menial. Always working to the highest standards.
  • Full valid driving licence
