Here at The Isle of Wight College, we work with a number of employers, in a vast array of industries. A fantastic opportunity has arisen to work for Go Internet as a Customer Service Apprentice Advisor.

The Go Internet journey on the Isle of Wight started in 2010. Originally known as ‘Nammitnet’ and founded by Trevor Cook, the business rebranded as Wight Wireless 3 years later.

The team then took on a new name and identity in 2018, moving into larger and more suitable premises in Newport. This is how Go Internet was born.

The ability to find solutions in all challenging environments and locations, started to create a reputation for Go Internet, the team are a problem-solving bunch, focused on delivering the best possible broadband and communication services to their customers. 

In response to exciting business growth and recent apprentice success, Go Internet are now looking for a dynamic individual to join their friendly team to work as a Customer Service Apprentice Advisor.

Apprentice role and responsibilities will include:

  • Answering phone calls for existing customers and potential new customers
  • Supporting customers through troubleshooting potential issues and escalating fault to suppliers, when required
  • Establishing issues, determining next steps, providing resolutions to support customer satisfaction
  • If it is a new customer enquiry, then use the tools provided to inform the customer what services are available.
  • Following Process for onboarding new customers including creating their billing account
  • Following regulatory guidelines for OTS
  • Pick, Pack and get packages ready to ship to the customers
  • Using our ticketing system, keep customers informed about the progress of their order. This is mostly done using template responses, with the relevant customer information entered manually (customer name, order number, tracking numbers, dates etc.)
  • Order products from our suppliers
  • Processing warranty returns with our suppliers
  • Keep track of the progress of the order and update customers as above when certain milestones are met

Essential Skills and Qualities:   

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Good IT skills
  • Good level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Possess good numeracy and literacy skills
  • Good time management skills
  • Excellent organisation skills
  • Able to work individually and as part of a team

Qualifications Required:

GCSE grade C/4 or above in English and Maths (or equivalent qualification and/or ability to work towards these Functional Skills)

Apprenticeship:

  • Customer Service Practitioner Level 2 Apprenticeship Standard
  • Functional Skills in Maths and English if required
  • There is a requirement to complete off the job training, this includes time spent either learning something new, attendance at regular classroom workshops, other courses or any support work that is not in your usual role
  • Apprenticeship duration will be around 12- 18 months where the final 3 months will involve gateway for the end point assessment
  • Attendance at college as part of the course

Working Week:

  • 08:30 to 17:00 
  • 40 hours per week
  • Monday to Friday

Wage:

£7.55 per hour.

The current National Minimum Wage (NMW) rate for apprentices is £7.55 per hour. This applies to all candidates in the first year of their Apprenticeship. Once qualified and upon successful apprenticeship completion, there may be an opportunity to progress to a permanent role within the business, dependent on suitability and opportunity at that time.
