Role Summary
We are seeking a reliable and hardworking Labourers / Cleaners to work in our busy shipyard. The roles will be to maintain cleanliness, hygiene, and safety across all the shipyard facilities. The roles involve cleaning both office and industrial areas, including docks and vessels, while ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
Responsibilities
Core Cleaning Duties
- Clean and sanitize offices, break rooms, restrooms, kitchens and changing areas
- Sweep, mop, and vacuum floors (as appropriate) in office spaces.
- Empty bins in all areas and dispose of waste, including segregating recyclable and hazardous materials
- Clean windows, walls, and surfaces to remove dust, grease, and grime as necessary
Industrial & Shipyard-Specific Tasks
- Remove oil, fuel residues, and other industrial contaminants from floors and equipment
- Maintain clean yard, free from swarf, bird excrement and general rubbish.
- Clean ship decks, gangways, and dock areas as required
- Assist with post-maintenance or post-construction clean-ups on vessels as required
- Use pressure washers, industrial vacuums, and specialist cleaning equipment to achieve a high level of cleanliness.
Waste Management
- Dispose of hazardous waste (e.g., oily rags, chemical containers) in compliance with regulations
- Transport waste to designated disposal areas
- Maintain cleanliness of waste storage zones
Equipment & Maintenance
- Operate and maintain cleaning tools and machinery safely
- Report damaged equipment or supply shortages
- Restock cleaning supplies and hygiene products
Support Duties
- Provide support for any large yard operations that require more resource
- Assist other departments with general housekeeping needs
- Respond to emergency clean-ups (e.g., spills or accidents)
- Follow work schedules and complete assigned cleaning checklists
Health & Safety
- Follow all site health and safety procedures at all times
- Wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
- Handle cleaning chemicals in line with safety regulations (e.g., COSHH)
- Ensure all work areas are safe, clean, and free from hazards
