Milton Keynes College have an exciting opportunity for an Inclusion Practitioner to join our Prison Education team at HMP IW. As a successful Inclusion Practitioner, you will provide inspirational learning support to small groups of learners and on a 1:1 basis. This will require a holistic approach to highlight specific learning needs and improving learner skills. Your focus will be on Maths and English, leading to employability outcomes, with effective target setting to meet individual needs.

You will be a passionate, creative and empathetic towards our learners and be able to offer knowledge and guidance to our learners. A knowledge of strategies to support a wide range of neurodiversity needs would be an advantage.

As an Inclusion Practitioner, you will be working across the whole prison estate, on all wings and in classes where education is delivered.

MAKE A DIFFERENCE

In this role, you will:

  • Deliver, design and develop differentiated Learning Support, to meet the needs of the Prison Education Service (PES) learners and to satisfy internal and external quality assurance requirements.
  • Develop good working relationships with the teaching staff to provide proactive English and maths learning support activities and guidance.
  • Manage the assessment service, identifying how learning needs can be effectively supported and monitored.
  • Provide a range of support services for leaners with a learning difficulty or disability, to enable them to access to available educational opportunities.
  • Use a range of specialist assessment tools to establish learner need and support required for their additional learning.
  • Work with identified learners to deliver challenging and exciting learning sessions through small group work and 1:1 sessions.
  • Liaise with the management team and be responsible for supporting the recruitment of learners and the promotion of courses; enabling the learners to access the correct level of course and support required.
  • Prepare support sessions and set challenging targets, including SMART targets to support success and achievement in line with the learners needs and record these targets on the learner journey documentation.
  • Use clearly structured learning activities that interest and motivate learners, and advance their learning, supporting the preparation of resources when appropriate.
  • Ensure learners are fully enrolled onto programmes, accurate records are maintained; with completions, withdrawals and achievement documentation completed in a timely manner.
  • Complete the learning support paperwork and be responsible for the monitoring, tracking and reviews of all identified learners who receive support to ensure that it meets audit and PES requirements

KNOWLEDGE, EXPERTISE & QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Good basic general education including GCSE (or) equivalent) in Maths and English at Grade C or above.
  • NVQ2/ NVQ3 Teaching Assistant qualification and/or PTLLS/DTLLS or equivalent Teaching qualifications
  • Experience of working in a learning environment.
  • Experience of supporting students or assessing or training.
