Creative Artworker & Print Specialist
At Careprint, we are more than just a printing company; we are a dedicated partner to families and funeral directors across the country. Specializing in high-quality, bespoke funeral stationery, we combine state-of-the-art technology with a gentle, personal touch to create lasting tributes that truly honour a loved one’s memory. While we are proud of our reputation as experts in the bereavement sector, our versatility as a family-run studio allows us to bring that same signature precision and care to a wide array of commercial print projects, ensuring every customer receives exceptional quality and a service they can trust.
Join a dedicated, independent family print business
We are looking for a Creative Artworker & Print Specialist who brings both a compassionate eye for design and a technical mind for production. In this role, you will be the bridge between a digital brief and a high-quality physical product, ensuring every project — no matter the scale — is executed with care and total precision.
The Heart of the Role: Funeral Stationery
The core of our business is providing a final, beautiful tribute for families during their most difficult moments. You will spend much of your time creating bespoke Orders of Service, memorial cards, bookmarks etc. This requires a sensitive approach to layout, elegant typography, and expert photo restoration skills to ensure family memories are preserved perfectly in print.
Commercial Versatility
Beyond our primary funeral market, you will apply your design and technical skills to a broad range of commercial projects. From designing vibrant promotional leaflets and business stationery to setting up large-format files for displays, you will ensure all our clients receive the same level of care and professional finish.
Technical & Print Production
This is a “hands-on” role where you will also assist with the print lifecycle:
- You will assist with managing and operating our digital presses and wide format printers, calibrating colour profiles and ensuring consistent quality across various paper stocks.
- You will assist with the final touch, operating our creasers, folders, and guillotines to deliver a crisp, professional product.
Logistics & Dispatch Management
- Courier Coordination: You will assist with booking and monitoring all outbound despatches using external couriers ensuring that every parcel—especially time-sensitive funeral stationery—is tracked from our door to the client's, proactively resolving any transit issues to guarantee on-time arrival.
Requirements & Ideal Key Skills
Technical Design & Artworking
- Adobe Creative Suite Mastery: Expert-level proficiency in InDesign (for complex pagination), Photoshop (for advanced photo restoration and retouching), and Illustrator (for vector-based commercial assets).
- The "Pre-Press" Eye: A deep understanding of print-ready setup, including bleed, slug, CMYK/RGB colour profiles, and image resolution (DPI).
- Typography & Layout: An elegant touch with fonts and spacing—essential for creating readable, graceful memorial tributes or punchy, effective commercial leaflets.
Print Production & Finishing
- Digital Press Operation: Hands-on experience (or a strong technical aptitude) for operating digital presses and wide format printers, including managing print queues and colour calibration.
- Substrate Knowledge: A solid understanding of how different paper stocks (from 100gsm uncoated to 350gsm silk) handle toner and folding.
- Post-Press Craftsmanship: Ability to operate finishing machinery, including guillotines, creasers, and booklet makers, ensuring every final product is perfectly trimmed and folded.
- Large-Format Prep: Knowledge of preparing files for wide-format print, ensuring no loss of quality at scale.
Personal Attributes
- Meticulous Attention to Detail: An obsessive "zero-error" approach to proofing names, dates, and spelling—there is no room for error in funeral stationery.
- Emotional Intelligence: A respectful and compassionate approach to handling sensitive family photos and memorial content.
- Adaptability: The ability to switch gears effortlessly between a sensitive, bespoke funeral project and a vibrant, fast-paced commercial brief.
- Reliability: A commitment to hitting non-negotiable deadlines within a 24–48 hour window.
How to Apply
Please submit your CV and a Portfolio showcasing your layout skills and any photo restoration work to [email protected].
A Note on Portfolios: We would love to see examples of your typography and how you handle multi-page layouts. If you have experience with floral illustrations or religious/secular imagery, please highlight this.
