On the Isle of Wight within the Adult Social Care Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS) Team, we are looking for a full time DoLS Coordinator who is enthusiastic and can support the Team in their work.

The Isle of Wight Council has a range of responsibilities under DoLS and the Mental Capacity Act as a Supervisory Body and this post will support the DoLS Team in managing and developing systems that ensure the Council’s duties are effectively discharged.

The duties will include managing enquiries, DoLS requests, and allocation for assessments, authorisations of DoLS, and termination of authorisations as needed; developing and maintaining IT systems to support this day-to-day work; and the collection and analysis of data for both local and national data returns. The management of external vendor processes to include setting up purchase orders and responding to invoices is a key responsibility.

Knowledge of the relevant legislation within Adult Social Care is essential, such as the Care Act, the Mental Capacity Act, the Mental Health Act and the DoLS legal framework, as the Coordinator’s role is key to the processes that enable the team and department to meet the requirements of these.  Attention to detail, and effectively being able to manage a complex spreadsheet is essential.

Applicants should have a wide experience and knowledge of using standard IT software, Maths and English at GCSE grade 9-4 / A-C equivalent, and excellent communication and customer service skills. You will require experience of Adult Social Care systems and developing administrative systems. You must be able to prioritise and organise tasks in a busy setting, help improve local processes and be flexible in order to be able to manage varying workloads within required timescales.

In return monthly supervision is provided with monthly Team Meetings and other regular support from colleagues in the team and the wider department.
