The Way Forward Programme is part of Newport based charity Osel Enterprises which was formed in 1988 to provide training and employment for people with disabilities and autism living on the Island.

The Way Forward Programme works with adults and young people from 12 years of age to retirement who have a learning or physical disability, people on the autistic spectrum and people suffering from mental health conditions providing services 7 days a week and every evening.

Apprenticeship Job Description

Description: To support customers with learning, physical disabilities, autism and mental health conditions and to ensure high standards of support and inclusion. 

Objectives

To help provide quality one to one support to customers with a range of learning disabilities.

To help in our daily sessions and encourage customer engagement.

To work with the team to provide a busy fun packed week of active sessions in the centre. 

Responsibilities

·      Work alongside individuals with a disability to provide appropriate guidance & support.

·       Read and understand customer assessments including progression requirements.

·       Read and digest customer risk assessments when required.

·       Provide support and emergency intervention if required, refer issues to programme lead where resolution is required.

·       Participate in everyday activities within the centre, behave in an acceptable manner for the working environment and comply with Health & Safety requirements.

·       Liaise with other team members involved in the support & care of the individual to meet identified needs and to help resolve issues.

·       Ensure all records involved in the role of support work are completed accurately, incident/accident forms to be completed in a timely manner and in accordance with the company policies and procedures.

·       Ensure all paperwork relevant to the working role is completed on time and made available to Programme Lead/Deputy or entered in our bespoke database.

·       Liaise with other agencies/providers/employers in a positive, professional manner.

·       Attend case conferences and/or reviews as required by programme deputy/lead.

·       To make yourself available on a regular basis at an agreed appointed time to assess and review your personal and professional development.

·       Attend regular face to face and on-line training relevant to the care sector.

·       Report any safeguarding incidents to a senior manager.

·      To report and record any accident or incident which may occur – no matter how minor.

         ·     To ensure that they have access to a car which has up to date insurance covered by business use, has a current MOT certificate and is taxed and in a road worthy condition.

         ·   Provide transport for individual/s to access training/work experience/activities as necessary.

     Hours

     35 hours per week over 7 days including some evenings

 

     Learning

The successful candidate will be undertaking the Level 2 Adult Care Worker apprenticeship standard and you will be fully supported by HTP Apprenticeship College.

Candidates will need to have achieved Maths and English at GCSE or equivalent grades A-C (9-4) or Level 2 functional skills in maths and English before completing the apprenticeship. For those without certificates at the start of the apprenticeship will undertake Level 2 Functional Skills.
