The role
Southern Housing are looking for a Senior Support Worker to join our Single Homeless Pathway Service across the Isle of Wight
As Senior Support Worker you will assist the Team Leader to lead and work as part of a team to provide support to residents in line with our contractual obligations. You will be expected to work flexibly to meet the needs of residents and wider service requirement.
You need to be physically able to undertake moving and handling and you will be subject to an enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service and Adult Barred List check. A driving licence and access to a vehicle with business insurance, for which mileage will be paid, is desirable.
You need to be able to work evenings and weekends as appropriate and be required to be on the On-call rota and work on rota if needed. You may also be required to cover sleep-ins on occasions to meet the needs of the service.
This is a permanent full time vacancy working across The Isle of Wight (Newport, Ryde, Sandown, Shankin)
What you’ll be doing
- To support the Team Leader to line manage staff including supervision, appraisals, absence monitoring, and providing them with appropriate support and training to ensure their continuing personal and professional development as well as compliance with regulations
- Maintain awareness of all legislative and contractual agreements for effective and quality service provision
- Monitor and assist with the development of resident involvement, daily activities and social inclusion within the wider community.
- Assist the Team Leader in the assessment of potential residents if required.
- Provide support to residents, as identified in their person-centred support plan as necessary.
- Responsible for ensuring the delivery of support that promotes independence, rights, choices and inclusion in their community
What you’ll need
- Hold relevant NVQ Level 3 qualification (or equivalent) or actively studying towards this
- Basic First Aid certificate
- Proven knowledge of health & safety appropriate to the post
- Knowledge and awareness of local services
- Be able to listen and communicate effectively?with excellent written and oral communication skills
- Able to work unsupervised
- Ability to act calmly and professionally in emergency situations
