  • Hours: 28 per week to be worked Tuesday through to Friday (Part Time)

  • Salary: Range from £36.000 to £38.400 per annum dependant on experience

  • Contract term: Permanent

  • Work location:  Office and Community on Isle of Wight

About us

Age UK Isle of Wight is an independent charity working across all Island communities to provide services to residents aged 50+, their carers and families. We are seeking an experienced Service Manager with demonstrable skills in leadership, planning and delivery to join our team in this newly created role.

The Service Manager will be responsible for delivering operational excellence ensuring the smooth and efficient functioning of the charity. The role will require you to deputise for the Chief Officer as required during periods of absence or holiday.

About the role

  • Lead and manage service operations for Age UK IW

  • Deliver business plans and objectives to ensure that operational targets are met

  • Manage and supervise Services Teams, providing coaching and support to drive performance and employee development

  • Work closely with the Chief Officer to identify opportunities for innovation, growth, and improved service development, whilst developing opportunities to work with a range of external stakeholders

  • Develop and maintain effective reporting, recording, and monitoring systems, whilst conducting regular reviews of systems and processes to ensure that Age UKIW operates effectively and efficiently

  • Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation, safeguarding responsibilities, organisational policies, contractual requirements, and quality standards

  • Monitor operational compliance in relation to health and safety, data protection, and employment practices

  • Ensure all services are client-focused and delivered in a way that reflects the Values and Behaviours of the Charity.

About You:

  • Proven leadership and management skills, ideally gained in an environment where your role has required you to be agile, flexible, and able to work effectively in a changing environment

  • Experience in managing budgetary control along with operational planning

  • Experience of managing employee performance and delivering operational excellence

  • Skilled in effective relationship-building, influencing, and working with a range of external stakeholders

  • Highly IT literate with the skills and experience of using a variety of operational systems
