Technical Support Technician

The Technical Support Technician role will be responsible for the repairing, reworking and retesting of faults seen in current in-field products across the full range, as well as new product lines as they start to be delivered to end customers. You will perform a wide variety of repairs, from PCBA replacements, to full product strip downs. Accurately recording all work performed through digital records, to ensure future traceability. Through inbound equipment testing you will detect and record faults within returned product. To enable efficient rectification and 8D reporting.

This is expected to be a hands-on technical role that supports all Vehicle Vision and Long-Range Surveillance products across the company portfolio.

Responsibilities & Tasks

·        Testing of systems and components by following defined guidelines and procedures

·        Disassembly, repair and reassembly of products across the company portfolio

·        Detection and reporting of faults within returned assemblies

·        Recalibration of cameras sensors

·        Rework of assemblies to bring them up to the latest revisions

·        Completion of digital records and related paperwork

·        Assisting in the creation of 8D and repair reports

·        Accurate reporting of RMA status to enable the relaying to customers

·        Assist in Offsite support if required

Skills & Experience

·        Minimum 2 years’ experience of the manufacture and test of hardware products, preferably in the Military or Aerospace market

·        Strong understanding of technical data such as assembly drawings and test instructions

·        Ability to set up and use test equipment including; multimeters, milliohm meters and power supplies

·        Able to analyse test results and compare them to predetermined pass criteria, to confirm the functional or faulty status of returned and repaired electrical assemblies. Including voltage, resistance, text based and optical visual results.

·        Ability to work on more than one activity, with capability to switch as required

·        Strong PC and MS office skills

Soft Skills

·        Strong time management and coordination skills; being able to link multiple activities and accurately define completion dates

·        Clear and professional communication skills to effectively convey technical findings to a range of internal stakeholders

·        Keen eye for detail, to identify subtle test failures within returned assemblies

 Personal Attributes

·        Strong written and verbal communication skills; must be able to read and prepare documentation in English.

·        Be able to work with minimum supervision and use own initiative

·        Strong interpersonal skills

·        Ability to communicate clearly with all employees

·        Have excellent attention to detail

·        Be able to work in a methodical & structured way

·        Conscientious, and works to continually build relationships and efficient processes

·        Demonstrate a flexible attitude to work

·        Knowledge of SAP or similar

 

Full time 37.5 hrs per wk.
