Wooden & Steel Ship Repairs - Cowes - specialise in restoration and repair of historic vessels based in our East and West Cowes shipyards. With slipways and drydocks cabable of handling vessels upto 1000 tons.

We are looking for hard working capable people for the job position of 'General skills shipyard worker' who will work alongside our highly skilled team of shipwrights, welders and engineers etc.

The job position is diverse, with a wide range of tasks.

The job will have key roles -

To ensure the efficiant running of the shipyards, maintenance of the cradles, hauling gear and ensuring the dock workspace is kept in a clean and orderly state.

To keep tool stores in a well organised state, ensuring tools and eqiuipment are returned to stores and maintained.

To maintain workshops and work areas, ensuring all aspects are serviced, operational and all areas are kept clean and tidy.

To carry out shot blasting.

Paint application, including surface preparation of wooden and steel surfaces. (applicants with background in this area an advantage)

Assisting launching and docking vessels, including setting up vessel supporting blocks etc,

Driving company van to collect and deliver goods,

Assist sealing and maintenance of dry dock gates.

Assist shipwrights and welders with tasks.

Driving company work boats (skills in small boat handling will be required - training available)

Full time - Monday to Friday - 8 am to 4.30pm.
