About the role
We’re looking for an energetic, enthusiastic and motivated Student Guidance and Transition Advisor to join our Careers and IAG Team. This is a pivotal role supporting young people as they move from school or sixth form into further and higher education. You’ll be the friendly face of the College for prospective students and families, ensuring every learner has the guidance and support they need to make confident, informed choices.
What you'll be doing
In this dynamic and rewarding role, you will:
Build strong, positive relationships with local schools and sixth forms
Deliver engaging careers information, advice and guidance (CIAG) sessions, both 1:1 and in groups
Support students with EHCPs and high needs with their progression routes into employment, training or higher education.
Coordinate exciting and impactful transition activities including campus tours, taster events, school visits and workshops
Support students to explore career pathways, set goals, and understand the expectations of further study
Work collaboratively across curriculum and support teams to create a seamless student journey
Champion the student voice by gathering feedback and shaping future events
Promote the College’s offer with energy and creativity through events, online platforms and community engagement
Provide reassurance and guidance to parents and carers to support their young person’s transition
About You
We’re looking for someone who is:
- A great communicator who can engage confidently with young people, parents, and colleagues
- Passionate about IAG and student success
- Highly organised with the ability to juggle multiple priorities
- Approachable, positive and able to motivate and inspire
- Knowledgeable about careers pathways, FE progression routes, and the challenges young people face during transition
- Committed to safeguarding, equality, diversity and inclusion
- Creative, flexible and solution-focused
- Experience in student support, coaching, mentoring or CIAG (ideally with a relevant Level 5 qualification or willingness to work towards)
