Being a Community Caregiver with Trusted Homecare is basically starring in your own feel good road trip movie… except the snacks are usually biscuits offered by Doris and the soundtrack is whatever’s playing on the kitchen radio.
People think community care is about quick pop ins and checklists. But let’s talk about providing care which truly makes a difference. We don't expect you to take time from visits to travel, we use Google Maps to map our travel time, keeping you where possible in close proximity to the rest of your visits. We can't promise you won't find a tractor, temporary lights, and a philosophical moment questioning your life choices at a roundabout though!
Our caregivers are there for the practical tasks, to help individuals be happy and safe at home. You may be supporting with washing or showering, medication, meals or mobility, making sure everything’s safe and comfortable. But we’re also there for the real essentials:
- Painting nails which match their outfit of the day
- Becoming a part time tech support line for the television
Other days? You may find yourself twirling someone safely around their living room to Dancing Queen by ABBA because if you can’t be a Dancing Queen at 82, when can you?
Longer visits are about noticing when someone needs five extra minutes to talk about how they’re really feeling. They’re about understanding that sometimes the most important care we give isn’t only written in the care plan, it’s sitting at the table, hands wrapped around a mug of tea, listening.
If you would like a role that truly carers about you, consider joining Trusted Homecare as a Community Caregiver!
What do we need from you?
Compassion, a sense of humour and the desire to go home at the end of your shift and feel "I've made a difference today".
