This role is office-based; however, some agile or remote working may be possible – please contact to discuss.

Are you looking for your next career move and want to gain experience working across a diverse property portfolio in a beautiful part of the world.

The Isle of Wight is only two hours from London yet has a slower pace of life and the kinds of scenery that many people can only dream of. The Island has a wealth of culture and history and everything from quaint villages, remote countryside to bustling towns with incredible beaches.  The Isle of Wight Council’s property estate is diverse, comprising some 783 building assets, of which around 150 are corporately used operational buildings including: offices, schools, leisure centres, libraries, museums, care homes, family centres, storage units, cemeteries, heritage buildings/landmarks as well as commercially let industrial units, restaurants, cafés etc. The list goes on.

With a diverse portfolio comes a diverse workload.  Working in a friendly and supportive building surveying team, you will have the opportunity to support existing planned and responsive maintenance regimes across the corporate estate.  There will be opportunities to design, procure and project manage works from minor repairs to larger capital refurbishment projects as well as surveying buildings within the estate for a variety of purposes including condition surveys, individual issue diagnosis and for compliance purposes such as fire safety and asbestos management matters of which one of these new roles will have a particular focus.

We are searching for enthusiastic, capable and experienced surveyors with strong technical surveying skills and preferably, but not essentially, public sector experience.  Fully qualified Chartered Surveyors (MRICS) or advanced and experienced candidates working toward their chartered membership is desirable.  The diverse nature of the portfolio allows opportunities to align the workload to suit your expertise, professional interests and professional development.
Applications for part-time and variable working arrangements are welcomed and will be considered in line with business needs.
