We are seeking to recruit an experienced and enthusiastic Social Worker to join our Adult Safeguarding Team that sits within the Local Authority Adult Social Care department. As a qualified Social Worker, you will hold the relevant qualification, skills, and experience to manage a varied caseload, balancing the needs of the person and the service. To fulfil this duty, you will work alongside individuals at risk of/experiencing abuse and neglect, their families, advocates and partner agencies, to coordinate, gather and assess information relevant to the concerns. This will involve coordinating safeguarding enquiries, undertaking face to face visits, attending safeguarding meetings, coproduction of safety plans and where required, complete detailed reports for individuals and relevant organisations.

You will:

  • Have excellent written, communication and relationship building skills. Be able to fully recognise the importance of ensuring that the voice and personal outcomes of adults at risk is heard, that their wellbeing is promoted, and that they are supported to live happy, healthy lives.
  • Share our ambitions, passion, and attitude to enable individuals to be protected and live free from harm and abuse.
  • Be a critical thinker who has competence and confidence in your practice.
  • Have sound working knowledge of the Safeguarding s42 duty under the Care Act 2014, hold professional curiosity and be able to demonstrate evidence informed decisions through the work you complete.

The Isle of Wight Council is committed to supporting all newly qualified social workers (NQSWs) via a robust post-graduate competency framework, the ‘Assessed and Supported Year of Employment’ (ASYE). The ASYE is intended to be the first stage of continuing professional development for Registered Social Workers. The framework will be closely allied to the Professional Capabilities Framework (PCF).  You will be therefore, be required to satisfactorily complete the ASYE programme within a 12-month period (or 18 months if part-time).
