Pet Shop Manager

Location: Isle of Wight Pet Centre 
Hours: 5 days per week (days negotiable between Tuesday–Sunday), 10:00am – 5:00pm

About the role

We are looking for a knowledgeable and enthusiastic Pet Shop Manager to oversee the daily running of our busy pet shop. This is a hands-on role ideal for someone passionate about animal welfare and customer service, with strong organisational skills and retail experience.

Key responsibilities

• Provide high standards of care for a variety of animals including birds, fish, reptiles, rabbits, and small mammals

• Monitor animal health and wellbeing daily

• Maintain accurate animal records, logs, and welfare documentation

• Complete and oversee daily checklists to ensure compliance and high welfare standards

• Ensure enclosures are clean, safe, and meet species-specific requirements

• Serve customers in a friendly, knowledgeable, and professional manner

• Provide advice on animal care, habitats, nutrition, and products

• Handle transactions and manage the till accurately

• Rotate stock to maintain freshness and quality

• Ensure the shop floor is well-presented, clean, and organised

Essential Requirements

• Level 3 Animal Management qualification (essential)

• Strong knowledge of animal husbandry across multiple species

• Confident working independently and taking responsibility for the store
